West Keystone is the wooded, residential side of town — mature lodgepole pines, about a half-mile from Keystone Lake, and quiet enough that a deer or a fox on your morning walk is more likely than a crowd. It is also the heart of Keystone golf country. Soda Ridge Road leads straight to both championship courses: the River Course, tracing the Snake River, and the Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed Keystone Ranch. The Keystone Gulch trailhead sits right by the neighborhood for creekside hiking past beaver ponds, and the paved Summit County rec path runs across West Keystone Road. A short walk brings you to Keystone Lake and Lakeside Village — paddleboards, kayaks, shops and dinner. River Run Village, with the gondola, Keystone Bike Park and summer festivals, is five minutes away. Beyond Keystone you are centered in Summit County: Lake Dillon and its marinas, Frisco, Silverthorne outlets, and Breckenridge are all short drives, with Vail, Copper Mountain and Loveland Pass a little farther.
A complimentary resort shuttle serves the West Keystone area and runs to River Run Village and the base areas. The free Summit Stage county bus also operates year-round, connecting Keystone with Dillon, Frisco, Silverthorne and Breckenridge — handy if you would rather leave the car parked. That said, a car gives you the most flexibility here. The golf courses, Lake Dillon marinas, Sapphire Point, and the neighboring towns are all quick, easy drives, and free parking for two vehicles is included with your stay. Keystone Lake, Lakeside Village and the Keystone Gulch trailhead are all walkable from the door, and the paved county bike path is right across the road if you bring bikes. Denver International Airport is about 85 miles — roughly an hour and a half, and a straightforward drive on I-70 outside of peak weekend traffic.
